Mr. Saleem Abdul Hai is originally from
Hyderabad, India. He lived and went to school in Bombay, India. He came to
the US in the early 1960’s and went to New York University for a Master’s
degree in Chemical Engineering. He moved to Los Angeles in 1972 and worked
with different manufacturing companies. He started his own food
manufacturing company in 1984 and as been in the food industry since then..
Mr. Hai has a long list of interests and is very much involved in music,
both classical and popular. He is an accomplished tabla player and musical
composer, particularly in composing ghazals and popular songs. He has
composed, directed and produced two ghazals CDs.
He is a very active and interested supporter of Urdu Writers Society (UWS)
because of their goals and objectives to advance aware of the richness of
the Urdu language and make the treasure of the Urdu language accessible to
everyone by offering classes for anyone who is interested to gain the
knowledge, by supporting publishing poetry and prose and making the works
available to all. He states that it is a pleasure to support their
projects and see the unique quality of Urdu being made available to non-Urdu
speakers.
HIS THOUGHTS ABOUT THE URDU WRITERS SOCIETY:
UWS is a nonpolitical group where the members and board are open,
constructive and unified in their goals. This is an organization where 100%
of the donations go toward the cause of promoting Urdu language |
